Back in 1995 when we lived in Melbourne, my husband often came home from work with a pile of magazines. I was hoping that it was knitting magazines, but instead they were magazines with nothing I can knit about. Page by page with pictures of long and short tube looking object called lenses. My first child was four months at that time, I was jobless and all I wanted to do was to knit baby suits for my son. Occasionally we were the photography objects serving for my husband’s hobby. We were happy to model for him most of the time but there was time when you’d prefer to snuggle inside a blanket rather than walk back to the pier during a windy weather (he wanted to freeze my hair in the air). But, my ignorance to photography and my husband’s hobby took a turning point after we moved back to Indonesia in 1997 and I got the job offer to run a company internal magazine as publisher. As you can imagine this job involved photography. I regret I didn't learn it when I had all the time for it, back thenin Australia.

I learn and adapt quickly with the job, I took pictures of rusted pipes, new drilling tools, oilfield workshops and employees pictures... People keep saying the pictures were great, but honestly when I look back at it now, they could have been better.

I really start liking photography since then. Nature and the outdoors have always been my favorite. They are available in abundance and when you photograph them they don’t give you any response. On the contrary they are just there, waiting and pose for you. But I also have the desire to photograph the unique human face and expression. The wrinkles in the face of an elderly woman can tell you a lot of story about her life. This is the journey I am about to embark in great passion.

I often feel like the luckiest person on earth. I thank my husband, the one who inspired me to photography (and the sponsor of my expensive gadgets) and my loving two boys who also shown great interest in what I am doing.

I am now a photographer contributor for IstockPhoto. The ultimate expression of my work, that is, when a client out there purchases an image, I always hope it will bring them the joy and wonder as much as I have when I captured the image.
